About Me

Who Am I?

I'm a barbie girl, in a barbie world.... wait no. I'm a triathlete and I don't put on eye shadow for races. I am also by no means a professional writer, so don't judge me, I'm just here for the horderves.

My Triathlon History:

I was a swimmer and water polo player till 2003 aka college, where of course I changed roles to seasoned "natty ice"consumer. In 2010 a friend of mine asked me to do a tri with her. After many "hell no's" I finally waltzed into walmart to proudly buy a mountain bike and get this thing over with. I was 50 lbs overweight, hadn't run more than a quarter mile, ever. I didn't train cause that swim experience from 6 years ago would carry me through right...RIGHT?? It was no surprise that I finished my first sprint third to last next to a lady with brain cancer (she was cool as hell btw). It was a surprise however that I was hooked on the thrill of triathlon from that finish line on.

I spent most of 2010 at the gym trying to get healthy. I did 1 more sprint and my first 5k that year. By 2011 I was down 30 lbs. I finished my first 10k, 15k, half marathon, 2 olympic tris and one half Ironman.

In 2012 my goals are to complete a marathon, an olympic in under 2:30 and to begin training for a 2013 full Ironman.

Who do I train with?

I train daily under Hector Torres & coach Mike Lemus of TriPeakAthlete I'm one of those types that if left alone to my own devices would sit around all day browsing the web or cooking or making excuses for why I don't have time to train. But I'm also one of those types that  responds well to a coach that doesn't care about excuses. So for those reasons, I train under the direction of these folks... I show up when they say, I work till they say drop and I eat what I'm told (mostly). It's a good symbiotic relationship - they get to torture me and I surpass my goals, totally worth it!
